Aladdin and the Magic Lamp

The story

In a faraway city, a poor boy named Aladdin lived with his mother.

One day, a stranger approached him and pretended to be Aladdin's uncle.

In truth, he was a cunning magician.

He took Aladdin into the desert, to a secret cave.

"Go inside," said the magician, "and bring me the old lamp you will find there. Here is a ring. It will protect you."

Aladdin climbed down and, among treasures and glittering stones, found an ordinary old oil lamp.

But when he tried to climb back up, the magician demanded the lamp first.

Aladdin did not trust him and refused.

Furious, the magician sealed the cave and left him alone in the darkness.

Afraid, Aladdin rubbed the ring he was still wearing.

Suddenly, a genie appeared.

"What is your wish, master?"

Aladdin wished to go home.

In the blink of an eye, he was back with his mother.

When they tried to polish the old lamp, an even more powerful genie appeared.

"I am the genie of the lamp," he said. "Ask for anything you wish."

From that moment on, Aladdin and his mother never had to go hungry again.

One day, Aladdin saw the princess of the land.

He fell in love at once.

With the genie's help, he had a magnificent palace built and offered the king rich gifts.

The king was so impressed that he allowed Aladdin to marry the princess.

They were very happy together.

But from far away, the old magician heard that Aladdin was not only alive, but had also become rich.

All because of the lamp.

Disguised as a merchant, he travelled to the city and called:

"New lamps for old!"

The princess did not know how precious the old lamp was and traded it without a second thought.

That was how the magician got his hands on the magic lamp.

With the help of the genie, he made the entire palace, with the princess inside it, disappear to a faraway place.

When Aladdin came home, everything was gone.

But he still had the magic ring.

He rubbed it, and the genie of the ring carried him to the place where the palace now stood.

There, Aladdin and the princess came up with a clever plan.

She distracted the magician.

At just the right moment, Aladdin snatched back the magic lamp.

With the genie's help, he sent the magician far away, never to return.

Then he brought the palace, and the princess, safely home.

And Aladdin and the princess lived happily ever after.
